I decided to take advantage of my lower than usual pain to spend the day doing something fun with my husband. We went to Old Montreal to take a touristy hour-long open boat cruise in the port. I noticed about halfway through, my lip burning was increasing. I was drinking water, staying hydrated, but I was in the sun. Could the sun be a trigger?
After we got off the boat, we walked a bit and ended up at our favourite fish-and-chip place. My burning was decreasing a bit and I was able to enjoy the meal. Now as I write this at 8 pm, my mouth has the same pain level as it did this morning.
I’m very fair so I don’t spend a lot of time in the sun. I used to say that just thinking about the sun would give me a sunburn. Although the pain is constant all year round, whether I go outside or not, I wonder now if the sun does make it worse.
